Scoop

Discover the world outside the classroom.

Every day, something worth knowing. For curious kids 8 to 14.

Vol. 1Today's edition

Tomorrow's thinkers start with today's questions.

The world is bigger than the classroom. Scoop is how curious 8-to-14-year-olds get a proper look at it, every day — the kind of look that builds the thinkers of tomorrow.

The basics

What is Scoop?

Scoop is a daily app for kids aged 8 to 14. Every day we take what's happening in the bigger world — politics, science, sport, the environment, the weird stuff — and write it properly for them, at their reading level.

Short enough for a quick read. Honest enough to come back to.

Built for the parents who care what the screen is showing.

01

It's all quality.

No ads, no clickbait, no throwaway content. Whether they read one story or ten, every one's written to be worth their time.

02

It's real.

Not filtered into nothing. Not dumbed down. Age-appropriate, but honest.

03

You'll see what they're reading.

Opt-in weekly summaries. No selling anything to your kid.

Three steps

How it works.

  1. 1

    Pick what they're into.

Science, sport, the world, people changing things. A few taps in.

  2. 2

    Read what catches their eye.

Every story's 2–3 minutes, written at their level. One or ten — they pick.

  3. 3

    Come back tomorrow.

The world keeps moving. So does Scoop.

For the adults

What the grown-ups get.

  • A weekly summary of what your kid's been reading
  • Real stories, written age-appropriately — no fear, no clickbait, no graphic content
  • Zero in-app advertising
  • GDPR-K compliant. Built in the UK.

The honest bit

Questions parents ask.

Is this just the BBC News, filtered?

No. Every story is written from scratch, at four different reading levels, so the same story fits an 8-year-old and a 13-year-old.

Will my kid see anything scary?

We cover real stories but write them age-appropriately. Nothing graphic, no clickbait, no fear-based framing.

What about screen time?

Every story is ad-free, age-appropriate, and written to be worth reading. Most kids settle into one or two a day. Some keep going — and that's fine, because there's nothing junky for them to land on.

What about their data?

GDPR-K compliant. We don't show ads in the app. Your email is opt-in, only after your kid has read five stories.

How is this different from Newsround?

Newsround is a TV show. Scoop is an app your kid opens every morning — personalised to them, with a habit that builds.

Give it ten minutes.

Real stories. Their level. Start with one.

Free to download. No ads.
